Born 1910

 

Surkhang I. A lay official of the 7th rank. Personal name Wangchen Geleg. Born 1910. Son of Surkhang Surpa. Formerly Shipkhang Totampa (Officer-in-charge of flour) and Ka-trung (Assistant Secretary to the Kashag). Sent to Kham as an Assistant to Do-chi (Commissioner in Kham) about 1933. He was promoted to a De-pšn in 1938 in command of 1500 men while he was in Kham. Returned to Lhasa in 1939 and was transferred to the Civil Department. Married Yutok Theiji's sister. Made Phepchag Gowpa (Officer-in-charge of the Palanquin) in 1941. Was appointed an Assistant to the Commissioner of Kham in March, 1943. Appointed a Shap-pe in place of Nang-chung-Nga in August, 1943.
