Other Information

Notes on print/mount - A piece of tracing paper has been attached to the back of the print and folded over the front. This would usually have been done to transfer crop marks etc. from the back to the front. This procedure has not been completed in this case. The back of the print is covered with crop marks and other instructions on how to reproduce the image. Of these, one of the most significant instructions is to crop 25 mm from the left hand side of the image. This would narrow and elongate the image, but would centre the woman in the frame. This would also remove the visual 'interference' in the image on the left side from an unidentifiable, out-of-focus object that is placed on the ground by the tent. Possibly to counteract the apparent effect of elongating the image, there is also an instruction to cut 1" from the top of the image. However, this instruction may have been partially erased deliberately, or have just worn off. The tracing paper has been stuck to the print in this place. The instruction is made to "cut as indicated and reduce to 3" across". '33b' has been written in pencil in the top left hand corner [MS 18/2/2005]
