17th September, Thursday, Lhasa.
Mr. Gould received a call from Trimon Shape who had not been able to come before on account of illness; he is an Elder Statesman of Tibet and is no longer a member of the Cabinet but is more or less in retirement. He seemed shaky and tired and would not talk politics.
