Yapshi Phunkhang Kung I. Personal name Tashi Dorji. Born in 1886. A descendant of the 11th Dalai Lama. Was formerly the Officer-in-charge of the printing of Currency Notes at the Trapchi hydro-electric factory near Lhasa. Owns the Old Changlo and the present British Trade Agency site at Gyantse. Appointed Shap-pe in 1938. Degraded to Kung in November, 1946, for alleged abuse of power. Arrested and detained in the Potala jail for about a month on suspicion of being involved in a conspiracy case in April and May, 1947, but was subsequently released and reinstated to his rank
