A Khampa trader stands in front of a whitewashed mani wall, identified by Mrs Hopkinson as being situated between Gyantse dzong and the town [see Notes]. Structures leading up to the dzong can be seen on the hillside in the background. He is wearing a fur-lined chuba and hat. A crowd of onlookers stand in the background. Wall paintings and inscriptions can be seen around the wall
