A performance telling the story of Guru Rimpoche at a ceremony in Tengoling Monastery near Gyantse on the 10th day of the 5th Tibetan month in 1927. The courtyard is surrounded by onlookers who watch events from every vantage point. A. J. Hopkinson took this photograph from the courtyard itself rather than from the first floor balcony to which he and his companion Capt Dean had originally been assigned
