Other Information - Dates

Other Information - Dates: Hopkinson states in his journals for 1927-28 that he visited Nyam-to-kyi-buk Hermitage twice during this period, once on March 16th 1927, when he visited with other Trade Agency staff [A. J. Hopkinson Archive, OIOC British Library, Mss Eur D998/54, Journal Letters from Gyantse and Various Camps, 1927-28, commencing March 20th 1927, Gyantse, pages 2-4]. On this occasion he seems not to have enjoyed his visit and expresses a disinclination to visit again. However, on June 28th 1927 he found himself compelled to accompany Mlle Lafugie, a French traveller assisted by the Trade Agency staff, who very much wanted to visit [A. J. Hopkinson Archive, OIOC British Library, Mss Eur D998/54, Journal Letters from Gyantse and Various Camps, 1927-28, commencing July 1st 1927, Gyantse, page 4]. As many of the other photographs in the 'D' negative album before and after the images of Nam-to-kyi-buk seem to correspond with activities undertaken with Mlle Lafugie, the date of this photograph is suggested as being June 28th 1927 [MS 15/07/2006]
