This photograph was probably taken on March 31st 1927. On this visit to Phari Hopkinson commented on how he found the streets to be dirty and unpleasant. On later visits, however, he commented how beautiful the town could be set in meadows full of wild flowers.

Notes on print/mount - One contact print made from this negative is contained in A. J. Hopkinson's negative case with the negative. The print was made using Velox paper. 'Phari', 'A. J. Hopkinson' and 'D.17' have all been written on the back of the print in pencil [MS 15/07/2006]
