A crowd of people in Gyantse bazaar. Traders can be seen lined up against a wall with their goods displayed on cloths on the ground. The walls of Gyantse monastery and many of its buildings can be seen in the background. The large wall over which a large tapestry would be displayed is seen on the hillside in the top right corner of the image. A man carrying bundles of incense can be seen in the left of the frame walking towards the photographer

Other Information - Dates: Hopkinson visited Gyantse bazaar many times during his time as Trade Agent in 1927-28. However, this group of images seems to be related to others taken during his time in the town during May -July 1927 [MS 13/07/2006]
