People standing and sitting next to the Goku Tramsa wall of Palkhor Chode monastery, Gyantse, where the large embroidered thangka on display can just be seen in the left side of the image. This textile would be displayed during the Gyantse festival which took place in the fourth month of the Tibetan year. The wall which was high on the hillside around Gyantse in the north east corner of the monastery. The poor quality of the image is because of the weak sunlight, this ceremony taking place in the early hours of the morning before the sun was full in the sky
