The Tibetan government mint had been at Gautsa until it was moved to closer to Lhasa. A bridge leading into Gautsa can be seen in the centre bottom of the image. On March 6th 1927 A. J. Hopkinson left Yatung to travel to Gyantse via Gautsa and Phari. This image was taken en route
