Pasang, Hopkinson's Head chaprassis and a Tibetan man standing next to Hopkinson's horses on a hillside outside Gyantse. On the day this photograph was taken Hopkinson had been to visit Cholung Hermitage, north east of Gyantse, and this photograph was taken on their return journey. Pasang is carrying a camera case over his shoulder and what is probably a khatak offering scarf given to Hopkinson at the hermitage

Other Information

In Negative - 'A20' has been written on the left edge of the negative in black ink. The negative has been machine perforated along the left edge. 18 holes have been perforated in total [MS 05/05/2006]

Notes on print/mount - One contact print made from this negative is contained in A. J. Hopkinson's negative case with the negative. The print appears to have been removed from an album, as there are traces of black mounting paper around the edges of the print as if it has been taken out after previously being glued in place. A partially decipherable caption has been written on the back in pencil: "Passang (= [?]) Head Chaprassi Gyantse with Hillman ". The number 6 has been written on the front top right corner in pencil. Other Information - Dates: It has been possible to identify when this photograph was taken by comparing it with BMH.A.15.1, which shows Pasang carrying a khatak scarf in an identical fashion outside Cholung hermitage. This negative also appears in the same sequence of images as those taken at Cholung [MS 24/06/2006]
