A group of four women and one man are in the foreground with a basket on a roof top in Lhasa
. The women are wearing triangular shaped headresses decorated with corals and are probably of the servant class. One of them has clearly visible ear ornaments. There is a tent awning in the centre of the photograph and ritual drum-shaped roof decorations in the background. Also in the background, a line of men including an official and several servants is silhouetted against the skyline all looking down into the central courtyard.
