Notes on print/mount - 'C1.4' has been written on the front of the print, in the bottom left hand corner, in pencil. It has been printed out on Agfa Brovira paper, which is somewhat unusual for Chapman's photographs [MS 25/03/2006]

They all seem to have been taken on August 27th 1936 on the occasion of an official visit to the Potala to meet the Regent and the Prime Minister [MS 25/03/2006]

Other Information - Setting: Mission Diary entry for August 27th 1936: "At 10 AM we all went in uniform to pay our official call on the Regent and Prime Minister in the Potala. // Photos and cine of the procession were taken, for we had a great display with Tibetan guides, chaprasis, clerks etc. ... // First we met the Prime Minister in an ante-room, and then went into the Regent's throne room, small but well-decorated. He is not allowed to use the Dalai Lama's apartments" ['Lhasa Mission, 1936: Diary of Events', Part IV p. 3, written by Neame] [MS 25/03/2006]
