The official diary of the Gould mission to Lhasa sent by the British government. Read more about the mission diary.

September 24th, Thursday, September 25th, Friday, and September 26th Saturday.

For two days we had no engagements; the lull before a storm of entertainments.

Dagg arrived on Friday after a fast journey up from Calcutta, bringing the hand charging machine with him.

We lunched with the Prime Minister. He was affable and talkative and may. be said to improve on acquaintance. His exalted position limits his social intercourse and he has never been more than eight miles from Lhasa. He has a pleasant house on the outskirts of the town in a park stretching down to the river, away from the noise and smell of the streets.
