The east end of Gyantse dzong with partially subterranean houses at the base of the hill visible in the lower part of the image [see BMH.F.15.1] . In the distance on the extreme right of the frame the wall of Gyantse monastery can be seen on the top of the hillside, upon which large textile hangings depicting the Buddha would be hung on ritual occasions
