A party of Tibetans, seven women, two men and two children sitting on wooden chairs at a table for tea in a walled garden of trees and shrubs. There is a servant on the right holding a teapot and a tray in the foreground, left-hand corner, with a teacup and plate. One of the guests at the right of the table, whose face is not visible, is a Tibetan aristocrat with the characteristic top knot. Also beside him there is a woman with a hooped Gyantse headdress. There are ropes attached to some of the trees in the background.
