Manual Catalogues - Bell's List of Illustrations entry: "[No. of chapter] L. [Subject of Chapter] Lhasa [Subject of Illustration] Q233 (z) Pargo Kaling entrance gate to Lhasa from eastern (inside) direction. [Where placed - book page] G.J."
Notes on print/mount - '17' has been written in black ink. This slide seems to have been used as a slide (no.17?) in the lecture 'A Year in Lhasa', which was first presented at the Royal Geographical Society on 3rd December 1923. The text, with a lesser number of images, was later published in The Geographical Journal of February 1924. This slide seems also to have been used by Bell in the lantern lecture titled 'The Dalai Lama'. [MS 7/9/2004]
Other Information - Manual Catalogues: There is an error in the List of Illustrations for Lantern slide 251. It should refer to this image but it in fact references Q.244 instead in the list [MS 7/9/2004]
Contemporary Publication - Published in 'A Year in Lhasa' in The Geographical Journal, February,1924, facing p.97:"Pargo Kaling". This piece was derived from a lecture given to the Royal Geographical Society in London on 3rd December 1923 [MS 10/9/2004]
