Tendong Shappe came to take farewell and was persuaded to stay for lunch. His wife died a few months ago so he is taking ten days leave during the New Year celebrations. We all like Tendong very much as he is always courteous, cheerful and without that strain of Eastern subtlety that characterises some of the Lhasa officials.
