Departs for official visit to Ganden. Arrived Dechen Jong. Crossed ferry [MS Or Richardson 3 folio 103] LEFT FOR GANDEN WITH KAZI SONAM AND LAY GUIDE RAMPA SE KUSHO. Marched to Dechen Dzong - snow on hills and overcast - met at Dechen by two Dzongpons [Ms Or Richardson 32 folio 150]

Arrived Shatra O at base of Ganden Hill at 11am. Climbed a hill [MS Or Richardson 3 folio 103] “our camp was in a large grove surrounding a house which belongs to the famous Shatra family. As the afternoon is not an auspicious time for visiting a holy place we stayed quietly in camp for the rest of the day” [Ms Or Richardson 32 folio 150]

Saturday 8th May 1937
Left shatra O early in the morning Dechen - crossed river in skin coracles at Dechen. Arrived at monastery village of Yerpa [MS Or Richardson 3 folio 105; [Ms Or Richardson 32 folio 150]
Sunday 9th May 1937
Returned to Lhasa In the morning visited the holy places in Yerpa - lunched and dined with the Khenchung Kusho who had arrived to oversee repairs. In afternoon HER climbed the hill above monastery and got view as far as Chomolhari [corrected in pencil to Nojen kansu], snow mountains of Karo La, north to Penpo valley and monastery of Talung.
