Wednesday 25th January 1928
Gyantse. Went skating on the Dzong pond with Dean. Following this, Hopkinson, Dean, Mulligan, Wangdi, Co and Pemba went to the Tering house for lunch. Comments that he sent a photograph of Tering Raja last week. [A. J. Describes events around the “village New Year” [ibid.] States of the Tering lunch: “I took a flash light photo - also a time exposure, but as they all began giggling and fidgeting that was a wash out” [ibid., p.2]
Tuesday 24th January 1928
Gyantse. “I got up at about 6.30 am meaning to go up the highest mountain overlooking Gyantse to photograph, but by 7 am the whole sky was overcast with clouds” [A. J. Saturday 28th January 1928
Gyantse. The Tering’s came to play football but were prevented by a dust storm so played roulette instead: “Mrs Pemba wore a Lhassa headdress and Miss Tering a Gyantse one. Tering and his boys are just off to Lhassa for the New Year, and I am giving Jigme some money to buy curios on my behalf” [A. J.
