Men and women can here be seen turning prayer wheels at one of Gyantse's greatest religious sites, the Kumbum, the distinctive walls can be seen rising in the background of the image. The two women in the foreground and centre are wearing relatively elaborate jewellery and head-dresses decorated with pearls and corals in the hooped style of the Gyantse region

In Negative - The number 'B-100' has been written in the top right corner of the negative in The edges of the negative have been cut very crudely [MS 30/06/2006]

Notes on print/mount - Two contact prints made from this negative are contained in A. J. Hopkinson's negative case with the negative. The first print, made using 'Velox' paper, has 'A. J. Hopkinson' written on the back in pencil. The second print has the caption "Turning the Prayer wheels in the Monastery at Gyantse" and 'H6' written again in pencil on the print back [MS 30/06/2006]
