Other Information - Dates
Other Information - Dates: It has been possible to suggest a date for this image because of its relationship with others taken apparently on the same occasion in the Chapman collection [1998.131.342 & 343 and 344]. These are prefixed with the reference 'CPX' and comprise a group of negatives containing images of boats near Dekyi Lingka crossing, Potala, Norbu Lingka main gate and stables, paintings, water prayer wheel, lake palace, ducks, mastiffs, monks washing clothes, Richardson and Dr Morgan. They seem to have been taken mainly on September 6th, although some of the early images in the Chapman collection may have been taken on September 4th - 5th 1936, when the Mission had two days of office activities. However, Nepean did not arrive in Lhasa until September 6th and so this photograph could not have been taken until then [MS 21/03/2006]
