A group of four women and one man are in the foreground with a basket on a roof top in Lhasa. The women are wearing triangular shaped headresses decorated with corals and are probably of the servant class. One of them has clearly visible ear ornaments. There is a tent awning in the centre of the photograph and ritual drum-shaped roof decorations in the background. Also in the background, a line of men including an official and several servants is silhouetted against the skyline all looking down into the central courtyard.
