Manual Catalogues -
Manual Catalogues - Bell's List of Illustrations entry: "[No. of chapter] XXXII to XXXIV. [Subject of Chapter] The Religion [Subject of Illustration] H.195 (cm) Gelukpa Incarnation Lama with his religious implements. Yellow hat on his head; bell, dorje, skull cap, skull drum etc. in front of him. In the skull cap is tea without anything, e.g. butter etc., added to it. This he offers to the gods. In the bowl on the left are fruits which he eats. The staff at the side he uses when walking. It has a ring round it which he shakes when he reaches his destination, and, hearing this, people bring him food, so that he does not have to ask for it. [Where placed - book page] I, 36. [Remarks] L.184 (D.L)"
Notes on print/mount - '21' and another crossed out annotation have been written in black ink. This slide seems to have been used by Bell as slide 21 in a lantern lecture titled 'The Dalai Lama' [MS 6/9/2004]
