Other Information - Background: Tsongpon Norbu Zangpo (Tshong dpon Nor-bu bzang po), a renowned merchant, is mythologised in Tibet opera (lha mo) because he renounced his wealth and devoted himself to a religious life. Richardson describes Tsongpon Norbu Zangpo as "a Tibetan Robin Hood". This shrine is at Lha khang Dzong near the border with Bhutan.
Other Information - Setting: Richardson describes this chapel at the temple of Mkho-mthing at Lha-khang Dzong in High Peaks, Pure Earth , 1998, London: Serindia, p. 322, "In another large chapel whose walls and pillars are painted red is a big mchod-rten ... In front of it is a minature shrine complete with pillars and a door, dedicated to Tshong-dpon Nor-bu bzang-po, a Tibetan Robin Hood. There are traces of gilding and arabesque paintings."
