Manual Catalogues - Caption in Chapman's hand-written list of negatives made whilst on the Mission to Lhasa, 1936-7 [See PRM Manuscripts Collection]: 'D.L.’s images and water-cup - upstairs left, scratched' [MS 14/08/2006]
Other Information - Related Images: The inscription on the back of the image was originally 'CB/39' but this has been deleted and replaced with 'CB/38'. In fact, by cross referencing the image with the Draft Mission Album on loan to the PRM for the exhibition 'Seeing Lhasa', it has been possible to identify the original inscription as being correct. Initially this image seems to have been selected for the draft Mission album but has then been de-selected with the word ‘No’ written next to the scratched-out blue circle which usually identifies images in the album. Other Information - Related Images: Images prefixed with 'CB' taken on the British Mission to Lhasa in 1936 - 37 comprise a group of negatives containing images of yak hide boats and horses on and in the Tsangpo river, gifts being offered, Mission and Tibetan officials, scenes along the banks of the river and near Chusul and a ‘monastery village’ near Chusul. The collection of images have been given the heading ‘Army and Navy Prints’ at the top of Chapman’s hand-written list. They were taken on September 6th - 7th 1936 [MS 14/08/2006]
