Bell's List of Illustrations entry for H.72: "[No. of chapter] V. [Subject of Chapter] Dalai Lama. [Subject of illustration] H72 (p) Potala and Sho. In this view the hill tops in the background are clear; in (ac) [H.82; 1998.285.95] they are covered with clouds"
Other Information - Related Images: There is no distinction between 1998.285.80 and 1998.285.81 in Bell's list of illustrations, both coming under the number H.72, despite the fact that they are different images and convey very different representations of the Potala and its environs as a ritual space ( see notes for 1998.285.81 by CH).
Other Information - Related Images: 1998.285.80 and 1998.285.95 seem to have been taken on the same day from slightly different positions [MS 17/5/2004]
