Manual Catalogues - Bell's List of Illustrations entry: "[No. of chapter] XXVII. [Subject of Chapter] Amusements [Subject of Illustration] H.328 (cjdu) Ditto, another and nearer view"
Other Information - Setting: This photograph was taken on March 2nd 1921 during the 'Account of Trapchi' according to the description given in Bell's diary for March 1921 (vol. ix, pp.5-7). Bell describes being seated in a tent to the right of the Shappes presiding at the ceremony, and as his behaviour seems to have been quite constrained by the ceremonial implications of his visit, this photograph was probably not taken by Bell himself [MS 22/6/2004]
