Other Information - Related Images: Images prefixed with 'BI' comprise a group of negatives containing images of the Lord Chamberlain [‘Trungi Chumbo’], Ramba, Khampa people, Mongolian women, Lhasa, Iamtso, Lalu Se, Lalu Monastery. They seem to have been taken between January 4th - 9th 1937, with this image apparently being taken on January 4th 1937 [MS 24/03/2006]
Other Information - Setting: Mission Diary for January 4th 1937: "The four Trungyi Chempos came to lunch. They represent the Cabinet of the Ecclesiastical Party. Each wore the usual flowing mulberry-coloured monk's robe over his yellow silk shirt; and to show their high office, a section of very beautiful vermillion and gold brocade was let into the middle of their ample sleeves. Lunch was followed by the usual cinema performance. By special request of the Monk Commander-in-chief we started with a film we have taken of the Tibetan army" ['Lhasa Mission, 1936: Diary of Events', Part XII p.2, written by Chapman] [MS 24/03/2006]
