Notes on print/mount - The number 'C-12/18' has been written on the back of the print in pencil. The name 'F. S. Chapman' has been written in the top left hand corner of the back of the print [MS 2/4/2005]
Manual Catalogues - Caption in Chapman's hand-written list of negatives made whilst on the Mission to Lhasa, 1936-7 [See PRM Manuscripts Collection]: 'Potala and sand track approaching L. [Lhasa]' [MS 18/03/2006]
Other Information - Related Images: Images prefixed with 'C.12' comprise a group of negatives containing images of Ladakhi men, Ngagchen Rimpoche, Mir/Amir Khan (the mission cook), football match, Dagg, Kham dancers, Nechung, Drepung, Potala and sand track approaching it. They all seem to have been taken between October 28th and November 15th 1936 [MS 18/03/2006]
Other Information - Setting: It is unusual to see the view from this sandy path from where the view is less scenic [TS 7/2/2005]
