Today we were challenged to a football match by a team composed of some of the younger officials such as Yutok Depon and Surkang Se, augmented by a few tough soldiers from the barracks. Our strongest team beat them three love.
In the evening several of our opponents brought their wives and families to dinner. Tsarong, who had been very busy with his own 8-millimetre camera, also came in.
Tsarong, incidentally, had walked from his house to the football ground, a distance of two miles; he is the only Tibetan strong enough to defy the usual convention of riding with mounted servants before and behind.
Dinner was followed by a cinematograph entertainment.
