Comments that nothing much has happened [n.b.: entry is incorrectly dated as 5th although states that it is Sunday, and therefore must be the February 6th]. In the afternoon, received a number of visitors - an old monk came with presents from the Oracle; Willoughby Patrick Rosemeyer (telegraph Suptdt.) came to tea; Subedar of Sikh Company visited [A. J. Comments that Bailey has applied for permission for Hopkinson to visit Bhutan. Visited the place where they were installing a new electric power house with Bailey in morning. Called on Maharajah in the afternoon. Maharajah showed Hopkinson his cinema films, but not able to project them until has electric light [ibid., C-D]

Dean, the new officer in charge of the Sikh troops arrived to take over from Moss; Dean’s 29th birthday the next day [ibid]. Vance and Sangster also in Yatung - delayed their visit to Gyantse because of bad weather. Sangster to command the Political Officer’s escort, Vance as doctor. Comments also that the cars are snowed up in Phari and Kala [ibid., p.4]. Describes the presents he is going to send to the Dalai Lama as an ‘arrival present’ - a silver salver, a bolster for a chair in yellow silk, and a saddle for New Year
